The founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales[1] has been developing the platform WT.Social. As for the platform, he explained (in order to understand the basics, to read his 14 tweets is recommended as he tweeted “Please read this entire thread to understand it, and then please join.” on 7 November 2019[2]):
“This is an evolution of the concept of WikiTribune as I came to realize that the problem of fake news and low quality content is as much about social networks (facebook and twitter in particular) as it is about news sites.”[4]
This social media is, as he invented and developed Wikipedia which has been free and open encyclopedia, (almost[4.5]) “everything openly editable”[5] and cares about the business model that WT.Social is funded by those who are willing to pay[6]. On advertisement policy on social media, Jack Dorsey posted a series of tweets, on 31 October 2019, which begins with “We’ve made the decision to stop all political advertising on Twitter globally.”[7]. Twitter ceases both candidate and issue advertisements[8].
With regard to fake news, questioning whether a piece of information is fact or not, whether the source is faithful or not matters.
